Wayne Bennett Obituary,  Death – His tenure in the real estate industry spanned the span of four decades. His career spanned four decades, making him a veteran of the real estate industry. As motivated and skilled as Wayne was in real estate, he found his true calling as Pastor A. Wayne Bennett. Since the beginning of his ministry career 32 years ago, he has served as the senior pastor of the Gateway Christian Church in Oxford, a position he has held right up until very recently.

He served his nation proudly in the United States Air Force. On December 10, 1977, Wayne Schertzer and Patricia Schertzer tied the knot and began their lives together as husband and wife. Over the course of four decades, Wayne worked in the industry of real estate, initially as the proprietor and broker of Wedgewood Realty in Oxford and later for Century 21.

two step-children, Cheryl (and her husband Pat) Drake of Columbiaville and Kim Beebe of Oxford; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two brothers, Perry Bennett (and his wife Barbara) of Missouri and Paul Bennett (and his wife June) of Florida; all of these individuals are known as Wayne’s surviving family members. Additionally, Wayne was survived by a large number of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He has just lately resigned from his post after holding it for quite some time. In public service for a total of twelve years, Wayne took great pride in his work as a member of the Lapeer City Commission. In his spare time Wayne loved fishing, golf, western movies, country music and Christian music. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Pat Bennett; two children, Danny Bennett (and his wife Kristie) of Lapeer and Kim Rader of Lake Orion;

Together with his parents and three brothers, Wayne Bennett was also predeceased by his first wife, Marie (née, Brown) Bennett. His parents and brothers all passed away before him. In addition to him, his brothers Billy Joe, Keith, and Nathan Bennett Bennett all passed away before he did.
