Wallace Mgoqi Obituary, Chairperson Of AYO Technolog, Has Died – Death Cause

Wallace Mgoqi Obituary, Death – On Monday evening, the lifelong campaigner, advocate, attorney, and businessman withdrew from practice and passed away. It is speculated that he passed away from a heart attack. Since 2018, Dr. Mgoqi has been serving as the chairperson of AYO. In the course of a distinguished career in the judicial system and the public sector, he has held positions as acting judge in the Land Claims Court from 2014 to 2019, as Chief Land Claims Commissioner in 1999, on the Commission for Gender Equality from 2012 to 2019, and as City Manager for the City of Cape Town from 2003 to 2006. His work in these capacities has earned him widespread respect.

In a poignant tribute to Dr. Mgoqi, his longtime friend and business partner, Dr. Iqbal Survé, said, “It is with great regret that I wish to notify you that my dear friend, colleague, and chairman of AYO Dr. Wallace Mgoqi has very unfortunately left our presence. Dr. Mgoqi is someone I’ve known for almost three decades, and we’re close friends, colleagues, and mentors. He held three honorary doctorates, making him a distinguished individual.

Dr. Mgoqi was also a member of the boards of directors for the National Development Agency, the Alumni Advisory Board of the University of Cape Town, and the Ernest Mancoba Advisory Board. The University of Cape Town, Walter Sisulu University, and New York University all bestowed honorary doctorates upon him.
