Toro Matthews Obituary, Death – Toro J. Matthews, who was 47 years old and a resident of Jacksonville, passed away on March 25th, 2023.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Saunders Funeral Home, located at 210 Bell Fork Rd., Jacksonville, North Carolina 28540. His mother, Daryln Rogers (Philip) of Jacksonville, as well as his sister, Dara Rogers of Jacksonville, as well as a large number of friends, family, and loved ones, will carry his love and memories with them always.
Gabriel Michael Cooke, M.D., formerly of Galway, Ireland and later of Toronto, Canada, passed away in his home in Toronto, Canada, surrounded by his loving wife Dee. He had been battling dementia for a long time before his passing. His sons Michael, Niall, and Patrick, as well as their families, including his seven grandkids, Connor, Sasha, Maddie, Niamh, Clare, Jameson, and Lochlan, will miss Dr. Cooke very much. Gabe was renowned for his quick wit, intellectual prowess, and voracious thirst for knowledge. In addition, golf, squash, and jazz music were among of Gabe’s favorite hobbies, and he and Dee took pleasure in making the annual trip to Florida.
The Cooke family would like to extend their appreciation to the outstanding caregivers who took care of Gabe, in particular Irene, Bernadeth, Sarah, Amos, Dr. Bernstein, and Priscilla from Palliative Care, as well as Debbie and the incredible people who work for The Care Company. Instead of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Michael’s Foundation, which supports the St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. On the afternoon of Saturday, April 1st, there will be a private service followed by a reception that is open to the public.
