Sean Mcfarland Obituary, Death – Mr. Sean T. McFarland, age 53, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, passed away in the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, on the evening of Tuesday, March 21, 2023. He was the son of Linda A. (Becker) McFarland of Waynesboro, who lived in Waynesboro, and the late Timothy A. “Tim” McFarland, who was born on June 2, 1969 in Baltimore.
Sean received his diploma from Waynesboro Area Senior High School in 1987, the same year his class graduated. In 1991, he received a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Muhlenberg College, which is located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Jenny Chu McFarland, who has been his wife for more than 35 years, and he tied the knot on October 18, 1997 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Sean’s early years were spent assisting his parents in the operation of their assisted living facility located in South Mountain, Pennsylvania called Michaux Manor.
His most recent position was as Manager of the Washington Township Municipal Authority. Before, he worked there. He had previously served on the boards of the Waynesboro Y.M.C.A. and Easter Seals, and he was currently a member of the Board of Directors for The Institute in Waynesboro. Sean was an outdoorsman who enjoyed activities such as jogging, scuba diving, gardening, cooking, hiking, woodworking, and projects involving nature. He read a lot and had a soft spot for canines.
Sean was quick with his wit and sense of humor. He delighted in making others smile and laugh. Sean devoted his time and energy to providing for his family because of the deep love he had for his children. He was deeply committed to the idea that he should serve his community while maintaining a cheerful attitude. Always remember what Sean used to say: “With an open mind and open heart, our doors are open to everyone… Your new home is here in ours. Yo home is su casa.”
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Jimmy McFarland and Lily McFarland, both at home; two sisters, Elisabeth A. McFarland of Germantown, MD and Jennilyn C. (Jeremy) Henke of Mont Alto, PA; nieces, Lindsey Henke and Emily Henke; nephew, David (Ashley) Henke and grandniece Rosalee; extended family from Honduras: Julia Bueso de Gomez, Gabriela Gomez Bel, Jana Gomez Maciulis, and Daniel Gomez.
