Scott Brolsma Obituary, Death – After a long and courageous fight with cancer, Scott Lee Brolsma, age 60, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on March 29, 2023, at home, surrounded by the people who loved him most. He was the son of the late Allen and Leah (Seaton) Brolsma and was born on April 29, 1962 in Crookston, Minnesota. His parents have now passed away. On June 9, 1984, he wed JoAnn Finkenbinder, the girl he had a crush on in high school, and together the couple raised their two daughters, Nora and Claire, whom he was quite proud of.
After completing his high school education at Crookston High School in 1980, Scott went on to earn an associate’s, a bachelor’s, and a master’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Minnesota Crookston and North Dakota State University. He attributes his motivation to the time he spent working on the Capistran Farm. Scott had a fulfilling time during his lengthy career in the agricultural industry, both in terms of the work itself and the many interesting people he had the opportunity to work alongside.
Scott have an innate talent for sports. He competed in hockey throughout high school and college, swam with the Noblesville Adult Swim Team, and finished a half Ironman for the first time in 2021. In addition to his own physical pursuits, Scott was very interested in his girls’ passion for swimming. He was a member of the board of directors for the Noblesville Swim Club and the Friends of Central Pool, and he volunteered a lot of his time in the community.
After seeing each of the fifty states, Scott realized that spending time with his family and exploring the country together was his biggest passion. One of his favorite spots for having fun with his family and going skiing was Big Sky, Montana. Scott was one of a kind due to the fact that he had a unique combination of characteristics, including a strong will, deep curiosity, genuine interest, a decisive temperament, and a sense of humor.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, JoAnn Brolsma; their two daughters, Nora (Dan) Farrell and Claire (David) Maxwell; grandson, Carter Scott Farrell; siblings, Bob (Kathy) Brolsma, Jim (Jan) Brolsma, Nancy (Wayne) Capistran; father and mother-in-law, Glen and Marlys Finkenbinder; brother-in-law, Mike (Brenda) Finkenbinder; sister-in-law, Carol (Jim) Lehman; and many nieces and nephews. Everyone in Scott’s family has a lot of affection for him.
On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a Sharing of Memories at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters), which is located at 4180 Westfield Road. This will be followed by a Celebration of Life Gathering, which will be from 4:30 p.m. through 7:00 p.m.
