On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his home in Minster, Ohio, Rygh E. Fortkamp, 23 years old and a resident of Minster, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly. The tragic event took place on March 22. On February 10, 2000, his parents, Edward Fortkamp and Melissa Buening, rejoiced in the arrival of their son into the world. His mother and her husband William Roche continue to make their home in Greenville.
Both of his parents are still alive and his father and his wife April continue to make their home in New Weston. In addition to his sister Cheyanne Fortkamp and brother William “Liam” Roche, he is survived by his grandparents Gary and Juanita Buening of Cassella and Eugene and Grace Fortkamp of Rossburg, as well as a large number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His sister Cheyanne Fortkamp and brother William “Liam” Roche are also his surviving siblings. His aunt Christine Moorman had already passed away before he did, so his passing was not unexpected. After serving in the United States Navy, Rygh found work at Machine Concepts in Minster after his military career was complete. He was happiest when he was outside, and his favorite pastimes included fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and anything else that involved the natural environment.
At St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry, Ohio, there will be a celebration of the Christian burial rite at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023. St. Henry Cemetery will be the next location for the burial, which will be followed by full military honors.
Visitation will be held at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry on Friday, March 31, from 3 to 8 PM, and then again on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. Friends and family are welcome to attend either visitation.
