Ronda Read Obituary, Death – I must break the news to you all with a heavy heart that our fellow student Ronda Gardner has passed away. Read Prayers for her and for those who are close to her.Her beloved husband Greg Helm, her two daughters Amanda and Alana, their spouses Tom and Derrick, her four adored grandchildren Ainsley, Lorelai, Mason, and Kacey, and her four-legged little pal Forrest are the only ones left to mourn her departure. She is also survived by her siblings Keri, Jeff (Cindy), and Stuart (Krista); in addition to a large number of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, including Corey, who she had a particularly close relationship with. Her parents also survive her. Her parents, Ronald Truthwaite and Lorna Truthwaite, passed away before Ronda was born.
She was born in Selkirk, Manitoba on October 7, 1959, however she spent her childhood in Lockport, also located in Manitoba. She had a wonderful childhood in the country, where she could run around with her pet dogs, go tobogganing, and skate on the slough. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Greg and Ronda both attended high school in Selkirk, where they both graduated before moving to Winnipeg to begin their family there. After over 25 years of service, Ronda retired from the Western Canada Lotteries Corporation (WCLC), where she had been a loyal employee. Ronda’s desire to better her business abilities led her to enroll in evening classes at Red River College, which is quite an accomplishment considering the fact that she is a devoted mother, a successful career woman, and has very little spare time.
She had a great work ethic and continued her studies, which led to her receiving multiple promotions, and by the time she took an early retirement in 1995, she was a supervisor. Ronda gave up her career as a result of the diabetic issues that affected her vision. During this trying time as she was learning how to cope with her condition, the CNIB proved to be a wonderful resource. Her tenacity enabled her to triumph over challenges time and again. Ronda was fortunate enough to make a number of friends that would remain in her life as a result of her work with the CNIB, and she valued immensely the opportunities they had to spend time together throughout the years.
Ronda enjoyed visiting warm southern locales, going shopping, going to casinos, playing trivia and card games, going to the spa, and talking on the phone with her loved ones for extended periods of time. She would never miss an opportunity to go for a stroll, whether it was outside or within a shopping center. She delighted in spending time with her family and close friends, whom she treasured beyond all else. While she was around, there was never a dull moment since she had a wonderful sense of humor that kept everyone laughing.
