Roger Tebbet Obituary, Death Cause – On the afternoon of Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 12:30 p.m., Dr. Roger Tebbet will be presenting a discussion that will be held at Selby Abbey. Beginning in the year 1994 and continuing until the year 2020, Roger served as the Organist and Director of Music at Selby Abbey.
He was the author of a wide variety of essays and reviews, the most of which were published in periodicals such as the Royal College of Music Magazine, Organists’ Review, and Choir & Organ. In addition to his responsibilities as an RSCM Examiner, he formerly served the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) as an Education and Training Officer for the North East Yorkshire District.
He is scheduled to retire from those duties in the year 2020. Roger was born in 1947 and attended the Monmouth School, the Royal College of Music, as well as the Universities of Reading and York for his formal education. His schooling was overseen by Melville Cook, Francis Jackson, and Herbert Howells, in that specific order of importance.
He worked as a broadcaster for BBC Radio and the BBC program Songs of Praise while he was stationed at Selby Abbey. Songs of Praise was broadcast on BBC Radio. In addition to that, he was the host of his own radio show during this time. Not only did Roger perform organ recitals at the Abbey and other locations in the United Kingdom, but he also traveled to other nations, such as France, West Germany, and the United States of America, to do so.
This district is located in the United Kingdom. In addition to instructing students in Harmony and Counterpoint while he was on the faculty at the University of York, he was also responsible for instructing students in Keyboard Skills.
