Pauline Sunderland Obituary, Death – PAULINE W. SUNDERLAND, who was 93 years old at the time of her death on March 26, 2023, passed away peacefully at her home in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was originally from Hurricane, which is located in West Virginia.

She was the youngest daughter of Ira C. White and May Harte Wolfe White, who had both passed away prior to her birth on March 8, 1930 in Culloden, West Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of Ira C. White and May Harte Wolfe White. After spending her childhood in Culloden, she moved to Milton, where she remained until she graduated from high school in 1948. Her father gave her the nickname “Pooch,” and she worked for Putnam County Schools for 25 years before retiring in 1988 after holding the position of secretary for those years.

The name Pooch is one that is recognized by a large number of individuals. She had been a member of the Milton United Methodist Church for the past 73 years at the time of her death. She was a member of the Hurricane Chapter #116 of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as the Hurricane Civic Chorus. Both of these groups were organizations in which she took part.

In her spare time, she enjoyed entertaining others by singing, playing the autoharp, cooking, and crocheting.
Pauline’s parents, three brothers, and five sisters all passed away before her, and so did Billy Joe Sunderland, the man she had been married to for 58 years. In addition to her own passing, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by two daughters, Phoebe Truex (and her husband Mike) of St. Marys, West Virginia, and Polly Arbaugh (and her husband Dick) of Morgantown, West Virginia; two grandchildren, Joshua Arbaugh (and his wife Andrea Martin) of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Micah Truex Kinser (and his wife Shae) of Townsend, Tennessee; and two great-grandchildren, Micah Truex Kinser and his wife Shae.

In the United Methodist Church in Milton on the 13th of April in the year 2023, a memorial service will be performed in honor of the deceased. Both the visitation and the service will begin at eleven o’clock in the morning. The service will begin at twelve. The interment of the remains will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Huntington, West Virginia, right following the conclusion of the funeral service.
