Mary Neal Death, Obituary – Everyone here is in a condition of deep depression as a result of the devastating news that former Councilwoman Mary Williams-Neal passed away earlier today. Ms. Williams-Neal, a native of Mississippi, served as a representative for the 3rd District, the headquarters of which are situated in east Kansas City, from 1995 to 2003. During that time, she represented the district from 1995 until 2003. This role was previously held by her.
2019 marked the beginning of her term as a Parks Commissioner, and she is currently in the midst of her second year in that role. Ms. Williams-Neal had a very exciting and busy life that was full of many unique experiences. She was a devoted friend in addition to being a public servant, a successful businesswoman, an active participant in her church, a loving mother and wife, and a successful businesswoman. She had a positive outlook on the generations that would come after her own, and she had a soft spot in her heart for children and teenagers.
We are sorry for your loss, and my thoughts are with her family as well as all of the people that she was able to assist throughout the course of her life. I am grateful for the opportunity she had to make a difference in the lives of others. The first time we spoke to her was during the time that she was working as a volunteer at Central High School. She was there helping out with various activities.
She believed that post-politics was not about accumulating wealth or expanding one’s sphere of influence; rather, it was about devoting everything she had to the endeavor of making other people’s lives more bearable. She was completely uninterested in either of those things. We count it as an extremely fortunate thing that her affection and works have been preserved in Kansas City for the sake of the children and grandchildren who will be born in the city in the years to come.
