Mary Polter Obituary, Renowned CEO of EmployIndy Dies – Death Cause

Mary Polter Obituary, Death – On March 22, 2023, at the age of 57, Dr. Mary Mechelle Polter passed away due to circumstances that were completely unforeseen. Mary Rose Johnston gave birth to Mechelle on February 24, 1966, in the town of Owensboro, Kentucky. She received her high school diploma from Greenwood High School in 1984 and her doctorate in linguistics from Walden University in 2016. Mechelle’s early death of her mother had a profound impact on her, and she began a path of devotion that would last her entire life.

She discovered that empowering, advising, and instructing young people was her true calling. Mechelle was able to find fulfillment in her work as a Senior Director at EmployIndy, where she played a pivotal role in the development of the Talent Bound work-based learning continuum and the Modern Apprenticeship Program. It gave her great joy to guide her team in assisting teenagers and young adults in the Indianapolis area in making life-altering choices regarding their destinies.

Mechelle first met Brian in 1990, and the two of them started their extraordinary journey together by getting married on September 28, 1991. Her husband of 31 years, Brian, as well as her children Briana, Colton, and Destiny, as well as her daughter-in-law, Maddie, survive her. Her grandmother Geneva Richardson, her older brother Jamie Payne, and her sister Kathy all passed away before she did. On April 7, 2023, friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Indiana Funeral Care, located at 8151 Allisonville Road. The funeral will begin at 6:30 pm, and cremation will follow immediately after.

The Dr. Mechelle Polter Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to remember her enthusiasm for working with adolescents and young adults in Indianapolis. This fund was established as a lasting homage to her legacy and serves as a lasting memorial to her legacy. EmployIndy.org’s Connect/Donate page is where memorial donations can be made in Mechelle’s honor.
