Kandis Parsons Obituary, Death – On May 27, 2022, at the age of 87, Marilynn J. Lewis Parsons went to be with her Lord, and her family was by her side the entire time. On June 1st, 1934, Marilynn Richards was brought into this world by her parents, Rev. Alvin D. Richards and Annabelle (Bedell) Richards. She spent her time as a teenager in both Flushing and Unionville, both in the state of Michigan. In 1953, Marilynn received her diploma from the Sebewaing High School. On June 13, 1953, she weds John T. Lewis in a ceremony that takes place at the Colling Church of the Nazarene. In Caro, Michigan, where they lived, Marilynn and John were responsible for the upbringing of four daughters and also adopted a son from Seoul, Korea.

Marilynn passed on her love of singing to her children, and the whole family went on a singing tour throughout Michigan, performing in churches and at other events geared toward children. Children performed their songs in front of a crowd of two thousand people at the Detroit Institute of Art. Marilynn was a member of the Colling Church of the Nazarene, where she served in various capacities, including as a teacher, a Sunday School Superintendent, a church decorator, and a pianist. Whenever there was a need, Marilynn was there to assist in meeting that need. On multiple occasions, Marilynn stayed in the hospital with both adults and children past midnight, allowing the rest of the family to leave and get some rest at home. Marilynn was the kind of person who never met a stranger because she made friends easily.

In addition to singing and being active in the church, Marilynn and John’s other passions included traveling to all fifty states, participating in white water rafting, and going on cruises to Columbia and the Caribbean. They were vital members of the Christian Motorcycle Association as well as the Tuscola Holiness Association, two organizations in which they were members.

Following the passing of John in the year 2000, Marilynn occupied her time by working as a school paraprofessional at Caro Middle School for a number of years. Marilynn was well liked by both the students and the staff due to her warm smile, willingness to offer hugs and assistance, and her passion for jewelry.

At the Colling Church of the Nazarene on January 20, 2007, Marilynn wed her high school sweetheart from Flushing, Paul E. Parsons. Paul had been her boyfriend since they were both in high school. She uprooted her life and moved to Traverse City from Caro. She did not remain an alien for very long in the strange town! Marilynn participated in a wide variety of events and activities at Bay View Wesleyan Church, including Topps and Bingo.
