Helen Oliveri Obituary, Death – As a result of hearing about Helen Oliveri’s departure, we are in an unimaginable state of sadness as well as a state of shock. It was abundantly evident that Helen and a number of her closest friends held a special place in their hearts for the Elm Diner given that they frequented this institution on a daily basis. We are going to miss you very much here at all of our company. I hope and pray that you, Helen, will find peace in death.
Helen A. Oliveri, a resident of West Haven who was 91 years old at the time of her passing on March 21, 2023, passed away. She had been married to the late Vincent Oliveri before he passed away. Helen will be greatly missed by her children Francesca (Michael) Ferrucci and Vincent (Lisa) Oliveri; her four cherished grandchildren Elena (Dago) Godoy, Christofer Oliveri, Michelle (Dave) DeRosa, and Matthew Oliveri; and her six cherished great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.
Her siblings Bernard Abbadessa, Mary Zavarella and Angela Sgueglia predecease her. Helen had a full and eventful life that she shared with her family and friends. She continued to give her time as a volunteer at WHEAT as well as at the Noble Community Center far into her 80s. Her age didn’t stop her. She was a member of SAGIO, and in her spare time, she enjoyed going to dance classes. But, her best times were those in which she was able to spend them with her family, particularly her grandchildren, while she cooked and enjoyed her great-grandchildren.
On Friday morning, the West Haven Funeral Home on the green will be open for viewing from nine in the morning until ten thirty in the morning. A Christian funeral service, also known as a Mass of Christian Burial, will be held at the Precious Blood (St. Agnes) Church in Woodmont at eleven in the morning. The church is named after St. Agnes. The subsequent event will be an interment at the Saint Lawrence Mausoleum.
