Gwendolyn Elizabeth Obituary, Death – Peter and Helen (Bacon) Griffith welcomed their daughter Gwen into the world on January 16, 1932, in the town of Lapeer, Michigan. She was a member of the graduating class of 1950 from Lapeer High School. On July 20, 1950, she wed Vern Ray Clemens at the Liberty Street Gospel Church. The Reverend Frank Hemingway presided over the ceremony, which was witnessed by their family and friends. Gwen was employed at the Oakdale Center in Lapeer, Michigan, in the Resident Care department, as well as at McCrory’s Dime Store, located in Downtown Lapeer.

Her hobbies included crocheting, going to auctions at Albrecht’s, participating in online auctions, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Clemens had a soft spot in her heart for all “Little People,” and she held a special place in her heart for infants and children. She was known as “The Greatest Grandmother in the World!”

Gwen is survived by her husband Ray (Janet) Clemens of Lapeer, her children Dave (Carol) Clemens of North Branch, Ethel (Dan) Korman of Lupton, Tom (Laurie) Clemens of Lapeer, Helen (Ed) Gassel of Lapeer, and Roger (Debbie) Clemens of Lapeer; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her Her parents and six of her siblings, including Howard, Richard, Otho “Dude”, Neta, Ila, and Marie, as well as her husband, Vern Clemens, passed away before her. Her granddaughter, Danyale Christine Clemens, also died before her.
