Frank Hawley Obituary, Death – Frank Hawley is shown in this photo with us presenting him with the Heart and Soul award in 2015, and we believe that it is only fitting that today’s post commemorates his life. Since Frank was a young lad, he has been a Warrington supporter. He found a way to channel his passion for the sport when he became the head coach of the rugby league team at St. John’s RC High School, which is now known as Cardinal Newman RC High School.
Frank has served as a touch judge for internationals, the Challenge Cup finals, and the Super League Grand Finals. Frank took his retirement from officiating matches in the year 2003 and went on to work as a Championship Touch Judge manager for a period of four years. In this role, he was responsible for assisting aspiring touch judges in the lower levels of the professional game in achieving their goals of working in the Super League.
He had a highly successful teaching career spanning 38 years, during which he was appointed to the positions of Head of Year, Art Teacher, and Religious Studies and Physical Education Teacher. After coaching the school’s rugby league team, Frank enrolled in a referee’s course and started officiating games regularly in 1974. He would go on to become one of the most highly regarded individuals in the sport of rugby league. In addition to officiating matches at the Grade One level.
