Don Cardis Death, Obituary – We are passing on the news of Don Cardis’s demise with a heavy heart. He will be greatly missed. The family of Boardwalk Caper would like to extend our most heartfelt condolences to his surviving loved ones and friends. (The 11th of February, 1931 – The 22nd of March, 2023) HUDSON was a treasured husband and father, a pioneering inventor, and a valued grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
On March 22, 2023, Donald R. Cardis, who was 92 years old and lived in Hudson, Ohio, passed away without incident. On February 11, 1931, in Doylestown, Ohio, he was born to his parents, Philip and Theresa Cardis. His grandparents were also named Cardis. He received his education at both Norton High School and Kent State University and graduated with honors. Papa, as he was affectionately known, was predeceased by both of his parents as well as Patricia Cardis, the woman he had been married to for 69 years (nee Althauser).
His favorite places to visit were Stow, Munroe-Falls, Hudson, and Fort Myers Beach, Florida. He lived there for the majority of his life. He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Patti), Greg (Michelle), and Scott (Cheryl); daughters, Lynn Miller (Jim Arvay) and Carrie (Bob) Gynn; as well as grandchildren whom he loved so very much, Michael, Erin, Hannah, Connor, Dean, and Braeden; as well as four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sons, Jeff (Patti), Greg (Michelle), and Scott (Cheryl).
In 1964, Don helped to establish Schneller and Associates in Kent, Ohio. This company would go on to revolutionize a subfield within the aviation industry. Nonetheless, despite the significance of his contributions to the aviation industry, his primary passion was spending time with his family. His children gained a respect for hard work through participation in family bonding activities such as changing the oil on Saturdays and rotating the tires on Sundays.
