Carlie Peterson Obituary, Death – On Friday, October 23, 2009, our beloved and much-loved mother and grandmother, Claire Louise Peterson, 77, died away surrounded by all of her family and friends in a calm and serene manner. On November 27, 1931, Claire was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania to her late parents, Arthur Sheridan and Claire Beckley Sheridan. After receiving her nursing degree with honors from Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania in 1952, Claire spent some time working in pediatrics before deciding that the operating room was where she belonged.
After getting married to a Navy Submarine Seaman, she and her husband traveled throughout the United States before finally settling down at Satellite Beach in the year 1960. They made the decision to settle down and raise their four children in this location. After ten years of service at what was then known as Brevard Hospital/Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Claire moved to Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge. There, she spent the next fifteen years working in the operating room before taking early retirement from the nursing profession in the year 1996.
Marita Riley, Claire’s sister, passed away before she did, following in the footsteps of her parents. Carol Hill and her husband Doug, David Peterson and his wife Terri, Thomas Peterson, and Amy Miley are her surviving children. She is survived by her four children. In addition, she is survived by her eight devoted grandkids, all of whom she cherished and of whom she was most proud: Steven, David, and Katherine Miley; Chelsea and Eric Hill; Makayla and Carly Peterson; and Brandon Gray.
She will be greatly missed. In addition, she has a brother named William Sheridan and a sister named Ann Robinson who she leaves behind. Funeral services are private. We urge that anybody who wishes to express their condolences consider making a donation in the name of Claire Peterson to either The Space Coast Early Intervention Center or Wuesthoff Hospice and Palliative Care in Rockledge.
