California School Shooting, Parents, Students Shaken After Montreal-area School Closed Thursday following Threats
California School Shooting – After what school authorities say was a threat that involved the school, Montreal police were stationed outside Macdonald High School in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue for much of Thursday morning. The school is located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.
According to Darren Becker, a spokesperson for the Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB), which is in charge of supervising the institution, “It was considered serious enough to contact the police, who arrived quickly on the scene.”
He refused to provide any further information, but he did say that they became aware of the online post at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, at which point they made the decision to close the building as a safety measure while students were on their way to school.
Constable Jeanne Drouin, a spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department, explained that when police officers arrived at the school, they met with a number of witnesses as well as staff members at the institution. She claims that investigators have told her that the threat was unfounded, but they have not provided any further details. Even so, the occurrence has caused worry for some individuals.
According to statements made to Global News by a number of parents, students started hearing rumors on Wednesday afternoon about the possibility of a school shooting being planned for Thursday. Then, around nine o’clock on Thursday morning, one of those students who had seen online posts contacted the authorities.
They have expressed to Global News that what they saw was upsetting, but they do not want to be identified because they are afraid of being bullied. The student commented on the firearms and how he is simply acting this way to get attention and other things.
The images, which were posted to the social networking service Snapchat, show packets of gum with what appears to be a firearm in the background. The images also include messages that make reference to a school shooting. There is another message that claims the posts are a joke, but the student who was interviewed by Global News is skeptical about this claim.
“I just think he’s lying because I don’t like trusting him,” they said. “I just think he’s lying because he’s lying.” “There is no doubt about it.” “It’s not something to make light of, because if someone says that, the next time I won’t believe anybody,” she said. “It’s not something to joke about.”
