Ariana Rosas Obituary, Death – Ariana Rosas, who was killed in a gunshot on Thursday, March 23, in the parking lot of the Animas Valley Mall in Farmington, Colorado, was identified by the Farmington Police Department on Monday. The incident occurred on Thursday. According to the Public information Officer Shanice Gonzales, Rosas, 18, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
A brief lockdown was implemented as a precautionary safety measure at Piedra Vista High School, which is located around one mile from the mall. Gonzales stated that the gunshot took place on the south side of the mall, close to where English Road is located. Gonzales stated that she was informed of the incident by a phone call that she received at 11:20 a.m., which was approximately 20 minutes after the shooting had place.
A second male victim was found and transferred to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where his condition was assessed to be stable. For the course of the investigation, his name was kept under wraps. No arrests have been made. No description of the suspect has been made public at this time.
Residents were asked to stay away from the vicinity of the shopping center since police were actively conducting an investigation there. A notification that was sent to the parents and guardians of the students at Piedra Vista High School stated that the school had been recommended to go into lockdown at 11:15 a.m. as a safety measure.
A second message from the school indicated that staff would continue “to be attentive and diligent to assist keep our entire campus safe.” The lockdown was lifted at 11:30 in the morning. In an email sent out on Monday, San Juan College described Rosas as a first-year student at the institution with a concentration in welding. Rosas had previously attended Vista Nueva High School. The college sent its condolences to Rosas’ family and made available counseling services to staff members, students, and faculty members.
